Put Off Procrastination – It’s Hazardous to Teen’s Study Health

Published by Jennifer at 12:00 am under Study Tips, Teens

Procrastination is bad; it’ll ruin every other plan if you don’t stop it in its tracks. If you’ve got to do something then go ahead and get it done. This really applies to schoolwork, and knowing how to schedule your time will stop the ole procrastination bug right in its track. Besides, you have other things to do, and by knowing how to manage your time, you’ll have more time to spend on doing things that you love such as being with friends, or even personal quiet time. Time management is a skill that can be learned, but you’ve got to use to get the most time for important things.

Most teens have a lot on their mind, and a lot of things to do. If you’ve been struggling with trying to find enough time, you might just need to manage your time better. Remember, grades in high school determine a lot of things, such as college choices and scholarships offers. Your future will be determined by how well you spend your time now. There are ways you can stop putting off what you don’t want to do. One of the best ways is to buy a planner to keep your busy life on track. Record everything that needs to be done on a weekly and monthly basis concerning your school assignments. A personal planner can be on the go with you, and for at home you can use an easy wipe off board or calendar to help you keep track. When you visually see your goals, it’ll motivate you to stay on track and get it done.

You can put off procrastination by keeping up with your schedule daily. Don’t put off writing it down because you’ll very likely forget. Stay on top of it all, and you won’t have delayed assignments, and bad grades. Another way to fight procrastination is to not take on to many obligations.  It’s easy to take on lots of extracurricular activities, or a little more work with a job, but it’s a lot harder to stay committed over the long haul. If you take on a lot you’ll end up burning out, and you won’t do a good job at any of it. Staying on top of grades is the first priority, so be dedicated to that first. Prioritizing is the key; know what’s important now and for your future. You might find that you will have to give up some things in order to do well in school, and in the end it’ll be worth it.

In high school major tasks, like a paper for literature, will be required. Most teachers know that you’ll need time to get it done. For any class that has a large assignment you can get it done by breaking down a large project into more manageable tasks. Start early so you’ll be ahead of the game. For example, if it’s a research paper gather your topic and research early, and then you can be one step up before it’s time to write your outline, and for the first draft to be turned in. Remember, anything can happen such as the flu, or a death in your family that can really distract and limited what you can get done. Procrastination is easy to do once you start down that long slippery slope, so don’t let it happen to you.

Another way to stop procrastination dead in its tracks is to use your time wisely on the weekends, if you’ve got a big project or important test for the new school week. A good way to do your time consuming work is to save it for a few hours on the weekend. Keep up with your regular scheduled smaller studies during the week, during the days of school. If you try to work on the big papers or science projects during the week after you’ve studied for the next days work in school, you’ll be tired and won’t do as well as you could. It’s a proven natural fact too that the body goes through peak times of alertness, but each person’s time is different. Usually, if you’re on a regular routine of eight hours sleep, and healthy eating habits, you’ll work well during the daylight hours. Experiment with what works for you, and you’ll succeeded at finding the just right routine that works.

Putting off procrastination is an easy thing to do; you’ve just got to stay motivated to keep ahead. Use these tips for your homework schedule because you just might love the good grades it gives you.
